A Pilgrimage Scroll (tīrthapaṭṭa) from Rajasthan
This corpus consists of almost 1000 annotations of a tīrthapaṭṭa from Mewar dating from the early 18th century identifies the objects depicted and provides a complete reading of all inscriptions. The scroll hangs in the National Museum in New Delhi and depicts three pilgrimage places: Gayā, Kāśī (Vārāṇasī) and Prayāg (Allahabad). It was not studied previous to this Heidelberg Center for Transcultural Studies project and the Museum has kindly provided high quality reproductions and generously granted the rights for online publication.
