Data Futures employs data formats, application program interfaces and protocols complying with internationally-agreed standards wherever possible.

Its directors are:

  • Peter Cornwell; a research fellow at the Institute for Asian Studies, ENS-Lyon and Professor in the Institute for Modern and Contemporary Culture, University of Westminster.
  • Neil Jefferies; Head of Innovation, Bodleian Digital Library Systems and Services, University of Oxford.
  • Tom Lamberty; Strategic Consultant to Cisco Systems, Inc. and publisher of Merve Verlag GmbH.
  • Andreas Witt; Professor of Computational Humanities & Text Technology at Universität Mannheim and Leibniz-Institut für Deutsche Sprache (IDS-Mannheim).

Cornwell, Jefferies and Lamberty have commercial experience at senior levels with companies including Cisco, Network Associates and Texas Instruments. Cornwell is European co-chair of RDA's Preservation Tools Techniques and Policies group; Jefferies is co-creator of the International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF) and community lead for the SWORD protocol.

Data Futures is a member of the InvenioRDM consortium.
